Willies Bakery

Then / Now

Willie's Bakery was founded in 1887 and the building now on the site is the original structure. Later, the patio on the side was added, which remains on top of the origianl foundation for a soap store that was next door. Willie's Bakery was well know for it's 32 varieties of fresh baked bread. Owned by the Wille family for four generations, it was known as British Columbia's oldest family owned and operated bakery, until it finally close its doors in 1976.

Willie's doors reopened in 1999 with fresh backed breads and pastries. The interior was refinished to reflect the original bakery. From the Royal BC Museum, walk along Government Street and turn left on Johnson Street, or take the scenic route along the inner harbour on Wharf Street and turn right on Johnson Street.
